One of our favorite things to do this time of year – and all year long, really – is to pack up the tackle box, grabs our poles and hit up the best fishing spots in the area. If you’re an avid fisherman, then you might’ve already heard of all these places, or maybe even have some you’d like to recommend in the comments below. But if you’re new to the game and looking for some of the best places to fist right here in Mt. Pleasant SC, then we’ve put together a little top 5 list for you!
Located at 71 Harry Hallman Boulevard, one of the best places to go fishing here in town is without a doubt the Mount Pleasant Pier. With plenty of other things to do on the pier, it makes for a great spot to start with fishing and perhaps turn into something else.
While charters are a bit pricier than heading to a pier or local spot, if you’re serious about angling it can be one of the best experiences ever! With all kinds of rates depending on how long and how many are fishing, Shallow Thoughts makes an excellent charter choice. You can even fish for sharks!
Another excellent charter options would be Marsh Maven, a company that specializes in light tackle and fly fishing – specifically for redfish, speckled trout and flounder. While Marsh Maven has a smaller scope than Shallow Thoughts, you’ll save a bit of cash on booking the charter!
Water temp mid to upper 80’s…look for reds in deeper water and in shady areas!

One more great charter option in the area is, of course, Knot Stressed. While it is one of the pricier options, Knot Stressed offers a host of different charter options, including less expensive, shorter eco tours for a smaller number of people.
Finally, that brings us to the Charleston Angler. This company offers fishing products, a number of fishing events, and even classes where you can learn how to fish. While this is less of a place to fish and more just a great resource for anglers, we had to include it in this list!
Hopefully this helps you fresh fisherman and seasoned anglers alike!
